    Description

    Rare Hand Crafted Polynesian Fisherman’s Deity Tangaroa or Oramatua (Atua) from Rarotonga Island (Cook Islands) Carved from Native Hardwood
    Circa: Antique; possibly 19th century or older
    9 3/8 inches (24 cm) high x 3 5/8 inches (8.5 cm) wide x 2 1/2 inches (6.4 cm) deep
    Condition; Very Good: There is the complex aged patina of an antique tropical wood figure.
    Description; this is an uncommon find. I purchased the item from a trader that found it in a thrift shop on the Big Island in Hawaii. Traditionally they were used to bring good luck on fishing voyages.
